Halo 3

Halo 3 Weapons

New / modified Weapons and equipment Available:

Most of the weapons have been modified in some way and there are a lot of new ones. Here is a list on what they are and what they can do.

Assault Rifle: Previously seen in Halo 1 as a 60 round clip that can hold up to 600 hundred rounds automatic rifle. In Halo 3 however it has a 32 round clip and can hold between 3-4 hundred rounds at a time. Almost half the original, but it has a much faster firing rate plus improved range.

Battle Rifle: It was good, now its better. Previously it had a 32 round clip and could hold up to 114 rounds which were fired at 3 shot burst fire rate and was a very accurate long range weapon. In Halo 3 it’s pretty much the same. 36 round clip that can hold up to 108 rounds, fires 3 shots at a time that pack a much bigger punch than in Halo 2. Is a any range weapon. Doesn’t sound like it though?

Brute Shot: Previously seen in Halo 2 as a 4 round belt that could hold up to 12 rounds at a time. They would bounce once before exploding. If the target was hit the grenade would explode, No bounce. Time until the target was hit was very slow which meant long range shots were a no go unless used as a mortar which the round size did not compliment. Now it has the same clip and round size however there is no bounce, it packs a bigger punch and has a larger AOE (area of effect). Still sports a big blade on the end.

Brute Plasma Rifle: Not featured in Halo 3.

Brute Spike Gun: Has a 36 round clip and can hold up to 140 rounds. Automatic rate of fire with medium range effectiveness, if you shoot at a long range target you will have to aim a little high as you are not firing bullets but spikes that gradually fall and bounce of surfaces. Can be dual wielded.

Brute Mauler: This is a very rare and strange gun. Can hold 6 rounds in a barrel and can hold up to 36 rounds. It’s almost like a shot gun which takes cartridges but appears to be a pistol. Very bad range almost none effective, so close combat was defiantly intended. Can be dual wielded, packs a big punch at point blank range?

Gravity Hammer: Previously seen in Halo 2 as an unusable boss weapon. (Tarturus)
Now it’s yours. Slightly upgraded, looks a little less bulky, sports blue lights and does
extreme damage in an AOE which blasts opponents away no matter their size.
Unfortunately you cannot use the over shield ability and yes it does break over time.

Energy Sword: Sadly this weapon has been down graded. Its lunge range is not as far as
it was in Halo 2. The sword will Breaks over time and still has a 90% chance to kill in
one hit. The Hammer out does the Sword in damage, however the sword has range on its
side.

Plasma Pistol: Featured in Halo 1 and 2 now in Halo 3. Nothing has changed with this gun, still fires semi-automatic shots and can still charge up to take down any infantry shield. Has no affect on none shielded targets (Charged up) can be dual wielded. It also uses battery system.

Plasma Rifle: Featured in Halo 1 and 2 now in 3. Unfortunately like in Halo 2 if you keep the trigger held down while the gun is over heating it will not double the firing rate once cooler. This was only possible in Halo 1. (Xbox only I think). But still it’s a very good gun that can fire between 3-4 hundred shots plus it doesn’t over heat as easily and it can be dual wielded. The rifle fires faster too.

Carbine: Featured in Halo 2 the Carbine is the covenants version of the Battle rifle. Only differences are it can hold 15 in a clip or tube as its presented in the game and can hold 50 rounds. The Carbine fires semi-automatic almost light speed shots. More powerful than the Battle rifle? Id say more accurate which can mean power if you always hit the right spot.

Sub-Machine Gun: Featured in Halo 2 the sub was an ok close to medium range weapon although it was a weak gun, hardly effective on its own. But Halo 3’s version is significantly improved, very fast firing rates I think the fastest in the game coupled with a 45 clip size and 180 rounds. Two of them up close are devastating. While dual wielding them the re-load time is very slow.

Needler: This gun has featured in all the Halo’s, in 1 you couldn’t dual wield in 2 you could which made people use it a lot more as it was actually effective, but now in Halo 3 you can not dual wield the Needler anymore. To try and compensate for this its fire rate is a little faster, the needles time to target speed is a lot quicker than the previous versions and the needles still home in. All in all it’s worse.

Pistol: This gun was awesome in the first Halo, even had a scope. In Halo 2 it sucked looked like a 9mm, however now in Halo 3 its back but with out the scope or the massive fire power it used to have. It now holds 15 in a clip and holds 45 rounds. I think it’s the worst version yet with the slower firing rate. Can be dual wielded. (There is no point in carrying this weapon)

50 Cal Sniper Rifle: My favorite. Very powerful weapon has a 4 round clip and holds 24 rounds including what’s in your clip. Unlike in the first Halo you cannot use night vision while scoped in and it carry’s significantly less ammo. The view finder does have night vision activated all the time. One hit KO even on legendary. (If you hit the right spot)

Beam Rifle: The same as the 50cal but it uses the battery system which means it does over heat if you fire two shots rapidly, this can be avoided by firing slower, so in essence you can fire as many shots as the battery will allow one after the other.

Rocket Launcher: Fires rockets that no more have vehicle lock on. Can carry 2 in the launcher and holds up to 12

Fuel Rod Cannon: This gun is almost the same as Halo 2’s version for the exception that for about 20 meters in front of you the plasma ball is almost 4 times faster, after that it will slow down a lot, it can also home into a target but not as much as the charged up plasma pistol shot does. Its got 6 rounds in a clip and holds 24 fuel rods all together.

Detachable Mini-Gun Turret: Very cool, attached it has unlimited rounds and can pivot a little more compared to Halo 2’s version. Good for killing everything but Hunters. Detached it only carry’s 200 rounds and will decrease your movement speed as well as your jump height.

Detachable Plasma Turret: Vastly improved. Now it’s a lot meatier, carry’s 200 hundred rounds detached and unlimited attached. The shots no longer bounce off vehicles and pack much more punch.

Detachable Missile launcher: Detached it will Fire 8 missiles that can home in onto heat sources. (Only 8) will also decrease your movement. Has unlimited ammo attached but can not fire strait forward, only fires up which means you have to lock on to something to use it.

Flamethrower: Much better compared to Halo 1’s (for the pc) it used to look like a mod, now it’s official. The flame is very damaging and you are able to create fire walls with it, sadly it does over heat. You carry it in third person view like the turrets and it has the same movement penalties.

Sentient Laser: Not a good gun, even against flood which it was designed to kill it’s bad, has no stopping power at all and it will over heat. Uses the battery system. Shoots a constant laser until it over heats and comes in orange or blue (blue being better).

Spartan Laser: Most powerful gun in the game. Uses the battery system and requires you to charge up before you shoot. Cannot fire until fully charged, Shoots a brief red laser. If you move while firing you will see multiple burn holes. This is very hard to use effectively. Does have an AOE. Small but powerful. Down side of this gun is it depletes its battery very quickly and as you know you don’t just find one lying around.

Shot Gun: Very strong gun up close looks better in Halo 3. Takes 8 cartridges at a time and can hold up to 30 shells. One point blank shot coupled with a smash to the face takes a legendary brute down.

Shade: This is a turret, you cannot detach it but it does have 360 degree movement and fires a purple plasma shot, the projectile is quite slow moving so you’ll have fire a bit in font of your target, this also means if you drive by at about 20 meters you won’t get hit. Also it’s fully automatic with unlimited battery.

Fragmentation Grenade: Your standard grenade, can’t chuck them as far as you can in the previous Halo’s but they are still the same. Apart from the fact you can now only carry two.

Plasma Grenade or Sticky Grenade: Like the frag just it sticks and is a little less powerful.

Spike Grenade: Also sticks to the target but is very week compared to the other two, to kill you must stick.

Insindry Grenade: Very cool, basically it’s like chucking a coke can filled with petrol and it lights on contact, kills anything in a few seconds. (Rare)

Equipment

Grav Lift: Once deployed it pushes any thing on top of it up into the air. Expires.

Regenerator: Once deployed it will re-charge your shield very quickly, does not how ever mean you can afford to get shot, dose not re-charge constantly. Acts just like your normal shield when it regen's so if you get hit while it’s re-charging your shield it will stop. Just doesn’t stop for as long as normal. Expires.

Power Drainer: Sucks all power into it as well as dragging the object into it, if you stand next to the orb it’ll drain your shield and try pull you in, avoid this by moving away. It cannot hold you in but your vehicle is another story. Don’t ride into them, you’ll stop dead and after a while they explode.

Bubble Shield: Once dropped nothing can penetrate it, you can walk through it though. Expires

Shield: Once deployed a fan like shield will open up in front of you, this is like the shields in Halo 2 and Halo 1 but bigger and they don’t take as much damage. They also have a week spot, there is a metal bit at the bottom of them, if this is shot it’ll destroy your shield. (Or enemies)

Landmine: It’s a land mine, unlike normal ones you don’t have to touch it to activate it, just take a few steps too close. Has a very big bang on it.

Over Shield: This time it’s been jazzed up, now it’ll increase your shield strength by 3 and you’ll glow light blue with white ripples. Not as good as the previous versions.

Invisibility Cloak: Does exactly what it says, it’s a little better than in the other Halo’s.

Flare: Hard to use as u more than likely blind yourself too, basically throw it to blind your opponents for a short time. Only works in close range.
